CHAPTER 5 — "The Janitor's Secret"

The crime boss couldn't stop thinking about the warning.

"Someone inside the organization has betrayed us."

He immediately ordered every member to surrender their phones, weapons, and access cards.

"No one leaves this building."

One by one, his most trusted men were searched.

Nothing.

No hidden transmitters.

No tracking devices.

No suspicious messages.

He smiled.

"There is no traitor."

But he was wrong.

Because the person leaking everything...

Was someone he had ignored for years.

An old hospital janitor named Samuel Brooks.

To everyone else, Samuel was invisible.

He quietly swept floors.

Emptied trash cans.

Fixed broken lights.

No one ever noticed him.

What no one knew was that Samuel had once been an undercover federal agent.

Years earlier, he had infiltrated the same child trafficking network.

When his cover was blown, everyone believed he had been killed.

Instead, he disappeared—and returned as a janitor, waiting for one mistake.

When Lily was first admitted to the hospital, Samuel noticed something no one else did.

The fake mother's shoes.

They carried red clay found only near an abandoned industrial district outside the city.

That single clue led him to the farmhouse.

And before the police ever arrived...

Samuel had secretly hidden a tiny GPS tracker inside Lily's stuffed rabbit.

Now, sitting alone in a forgotten maintenance room beneath the hospital, Samuel watched a blinking red dot move across a digital map.

Lily was alive.

He immediately called Dr. Ethan.

"I know where she is."

"What?" Ethan gasped.

"There isn't much time," Samuel replied. "They've moved her to Pier 19. They're preparing to leave the country before sunrise."

Within minutes, Ethan, Detective Mason, and a SWAT team raced toward the old shipping docks.

Meanwhile...

Inside a rusted warehouse overlooking the harbor, Lily remained tied to a chair.

The crime boss stood before her, holding Rachel's necklace in one hand and a loaded pistol in the other.

"You've caused me millions of dollars," he said coldly.

"But your mother caused something worse."

He opened a steel briefcase.

Inside were dozens of passports.

Stacks of cash.

Hard drives.

And photographs of politicians, judges, and business leaders standing beside missing children.

"This is why your mother had to disappear."

Lily stared at the photographs.

Then... she smiled.

The crime boss frowned.

"What are you smiling at?"

Lily looked straight into his eyes.

"You forgot one thing."

"What?"

"My mom never hid just one copy."

His face turned pale.

"What did you say?"

At that exact moment...

Every light inside the warehouse suddenly went out.

The sound of helicopters thundered overhead.

Then a booming voice echoed through the darkness.

"Federal agents! Drop your weapons! The building is surrounded!"

The crime boss laughed.

"Too late."

He grabbed Lily...

Pressed the gun against her head...

And whispered one terrifying sentence.

May you like

"If I can't escape... neither of us leaves alive."

To be continued...
