CHAPTER 6 — "The Bullet That Changed Everything"

The warehouse exploded into chaos.

Flashbang grenades shattered the darkness.

Gunfire echoed between rows of shipping containers.

Federal agents stormed through every entrance while helicopters lit the harbor with powerful searchlights.

The crime boss kept his pistol pressed against Lily's head.

"One more step," he shouted, "and she dies!"

No one moved.

Dr. Ethan stood frozen just inside the warehouse doors.

His hands trembled.

He had spent his entire career saving children.

Now, for the first time, he was completely helpless.

Then...

A familiar voice echoed through the loudspeaker.

"You're surrounded, Victor."

Everyone turned.

Rachel slowly stepped out from behind an armored vehicle.

She wasn't crying anymore.

She wasn't afraid anymore.

She held a small black flash drive in her hand.

"You wanted this?" she shouted.

"Here it is."

Victor smiled.

"I knew you'd come."

He shoved Lily toward the center of the room while keeping the gun aimed at her back.

"Throw it to me."

Rachel shook her head.

"You've spent years killing innocent people for this."

Victor laughed.

"Because every politician, every judge, every millionaire on this drive belongs to me."

The agents exchanged nervous glances.

If Victor escaped with that evidence, the entire investigation would collapse.

Rachel slowly raised the flash drive.

"I'll give it to you..."

"...if you let Lily go."

Victor pretended to think.

Then he smiled.

"Deal."

Lily began walking toward her mother.

One step.

Two steps.

Three...

Suddenly—

BANG!

A single gunshot shattered the silence.

Rachel screamed.

Lily collapsed to the floor.

Dr. Ethan ran toward her without thinking.

Blood spread across the child's white sweater.

"No... no... stay with me!"

But Lily looked up...

Completely unharmed.

The blood wasn't hers.

Behind her stood Samuel.

The old janitor.

He had thrown himself between Lily and the bullet.

The shot tore through his shoulder, but he never let go of the little girl.

Victor stared in disbelief.

"You..."

Samuel smiled weakly.

"I told you once..."

"...you should've made sure I was really dead."

Before Victor could fire again—

BOOM!

A sniper's bullet shattered the pistol in his hand.

Federal agents rushed forward.

Victor tried to run toward the docks.

He almost made it.

Then Detective Mason tackled him to the ground.

The notorious trafficking kingpin was finally arrested.

As agents searched the warehouse, Rachel handed the flash drive to the FBI director.

Everyone expected it to expose hundreds of criminals.

Instead...

The director plugged it into a secure laptop.

One folder appeared.

Only one.

Its title read:

"PROJECT PHOENIX."

Inside was a classified document containing just one sentence:

"Victor is not the leader. He is Employee #27."

The warehouse fell silent.

If Victor was only Employee Number 27...

Then someone far more powerful was still out there.

Victor slowly lifted his head.

Despite the handcuffs on his wrists...

He smiled.

"You think this is over?"

He looked directly at Dr. Ethan.

May you like

"You haven't even met... the Founder."

To be continued...
