Chapter 5 - The Rebellion Rises

Elena backed away, shielding Leo with her own body. "You poisoned my father. You tried to burn my brother alive. You are not a Queen—you are a monster!"

"I am a ruler who does what is necessary to maintain order!" Margaret shrieked, her mask of regal composure completely shattering. "Your father was weak! He would have surrendered our kingdom to the Northern Alliance! I built this empire with blood and steel!"

She raised her hand, signalling the crossbowmen. "Aim at the boy. On my mark—"

"FIRE!"

A sudden scream roared from the shadows behind the Queen’s guards.

Before the royal guards could react, a volley of black-feathered arrows rained down from the dark upper balconies of the archives. Half of the Queen's men collapsed instantly, screaming in pain.

From the dark corners of the library, dozens of warriors dressed in gray fur and silver armor swarmed the hall. At their head was a tall, rugged man with a long beard and a deep scar running across his left eye.

"For the true King!" the scarred man shouted, swinging a massive double-handed battleaxe that shattered a royal guard's shield in a single strike.

"The Northern Rebels!" Margaret gasped, her eyes wide with sheer horror as her elite guard was ruthlessly dismantled in seconds.

The battle was short and brutal. Within minutes, the remaining royal guards dropped their weapons and surrendered.

The scarred leader wiped his blood-stained axe and walked slowly toward Elena and Leo. He stopped a few feet away, dropping heavily to one knee.

"Princess Elena," the man said, his deep voice trembling with emotion. "I am Lord Cassian of the Northern House. We have waited fifteen years for this day."

"Lord Cassian?" Elena stammered, holding the scroll tightly. "You... you were my father's most trusted general!"

"And I served your brother in secret until his tragic passing three days ago," Cassian said, looking gently at Leo. He reached into his leather pouch and pulled out a matching silver ring—the twin to the hairpin. "Your brother Julian survived the fire, Princess. He lived in the North, leading our resistance against Margaret's tyranny. Before he died of his wounds, he sent his son—young Prince Leo—to you."

Leo looked up at Cassian, his small eyes filling with tears. "My dad... he said you were a good man."

"I am your servant, my King," Cassian bowed his head low to the young boy.

Queen Margaret, now completely stripped of her guards, backed away toward the exit, her face pale as snow. "This is treason! You cannot do this! I am the ruling monarch of this realm!"

Elena stepped forward, holding the golden scroll high in the air so all the soldiers could see.

"By the decree of King Alden, your reign is officially OVER, Margaret!" Elena declared, her voice ringing clear and strong through the stone archives. "Guards, arrest the usurper!"
