Chapter 7 - The Mastermind UnmaskedDon Valenti drew a hidden gun from his jacket, screaming in blind rage: "I'll kill you both!"

BANG! BANG!
Dante fired twice with double-tap precision. Don Valenti collapsed onto the mahogany desk, dropping his gun as his bodyguards immediately threw their weapons to the floor and raised their hands in surrender.
Bianca fell to her knees among the broken glass, sobbing hysterically as Dante’s Shadow Guard burst through the reinforced doors, securing the room and zip-tying the surrendering guards.
Dante walked down the grand marble staircase, his heavy boots echoing in the quiet room. He stood over Bianca, looking down at her without a trace of emotion.
"Take her away," Dante ordered his men. "Hand her and her father’s remaining lieutenants directly to the federal authorities. Let them spend the rest of their lives in a federal prison."
As the guards dragged a screaming Bianca away, the penthouse finally fell silent.
Dante turned to me. The tension that had held his shoulders rigid for days seemed to melt away. He slowly walked up to where I stood by the security console.
He looked at me, his dark eyes filled with something raw, intense, and deeply emotional—a look he had never allowed himself to show during the two years I worked as his assistant.
"You risked everything," Dante said, his voice soft, almost thick with emotion. "You protected Sophia. You saved my life. You destroyed my enemies... Why, Elena? You could have taken the money and run away the moment you found that recording."
I looked into his eyes, my chest rising and falling heavily.
"Because I didn't stay for the syndicate, Dante," I whispered softly. "I stayed for you. I've loved you since the day you stood between me and rival loan sharks two years ago. I was never going to let them destroy you."
Dante stared at me, speechlessly. Then, without another word, he closed the distance between us, wrapped his arms tightly around my waist, and pulled me into a fierce, passionate kiss that seemed to stop time itself.
For a moment, the blood, the violence, and the chaos of the mafia world disappeared. There was only the warmth of his lips, the strength of his embrace, and the absolute safety of his arms.
When he finally pulled back, he rested his forehead against mine, his breath warm on my skin.
"The wedding on Saturday is still happening," Dante murmured, a rare, beautiful smile touching his lips.
I blinked, confused. "What? But Bianca—"
"The cathedral is booked," Dante said softly, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a stunning, flawless 5-carat black diamond ring. "The guests are invited. But the bride was wrong."
He dropped to one knee right there on the marble floor of the penthouse, looking up at me with absolute devotion.
"Elena Vance, will you marry me and become the true Queen of the Moretti family?"
Tears welled up in my eyes. I smiled through the tears and nodded. "Yes. YES!"
Dante slipped the ring onto my finger and stood up, pulling me into his arms once again as the sun began to break through the Manhattan storm clouds outside.
