His eyes widened as the files decrypted.
His father hadn't just been a business mogul; he had been a broker for an underground syndicate that traded in sensitive government logistics. And Margot had been the witness to the origin of that wealth.
Suddenly, Damian’s phone buzzed. A private, blocked number.
"Damian," a voice hissed. It was deep, modulated. "You’re digging in the wrong cemetery."
"Who is this?" Damian demanded, his heart hammering.
"Your father’s legacy is a chain around your neck. You think you’re a self-made billionaire? You were financed by blood money. And now, the debt is due."
