Chapter 6 - THE BLOODY STANDOFFThe standoff lasted hours. The police sirens were finally audible in the distance, but the man had Maya and Haley held hostage in the ballroom.
"One more step and I drop them!" the man shouted.
Damian moved slowly. He knew he had one chance. He had wired the estate’s light system to a flash-bang sequence.
"Do it, then," Damian said, his voice cold. "But you’ll never leave this room."
He hit the switch.

The ballroom exploded in strobe-light chaos. Damian lunged. He didn't fight like a billionaire; he fought like a man protecting his legacy. He tackled the man, his fists finding their mark, his rage finally breaking free.
The man fired, but the bullet hit the crystal chandelier, which crashed down, pinning him to the floor.
