Chapter 8 - THE NEW DYNASTY

Three years later, the eastern port looked very different.

The smoky warehouses and back-alley syndicates had been slowly replaced by legitimate shipping conglomerates, community medical grants, and a private philanthropic foundation bearing a single name: The Voss-Elena Trust.

On the sun-drenched terrace of the cliffside estate, three toddlers with dark curls and warm hazel eyes were currently chasing a golden retriever across the lawn, their gleeful shrieks echoing over the sound of the crashing waves below.

Elena stood leaning against the stone balustrade, a cup of coffee growing cold in her hand as she watched them from the shade of an awning. A tailored wool jacket draped gently over her shoulders, smelling faintly of cedar and rain.

"They're going to tear down the East Wing garden by noon if we don't distract them," Caden said, stepping up behind her and wrapping his arms securely around her waist, pulling her back against his chest.

"Let them," Elena smiled, leaning back into his embrace. "They inherited their father's destructive streak. It's only natural."

Caden chuckled, resting his chin on her shoulder. "How's the new clinic downtown running?"

"Better than expected," Elena turned slightly in his arms, her eyes shining with quiet triumph. "We audited every single private surrogate registry in the state. No more shell companies. No more forged death certificates. Every mother who walks through those doors keeps her babies, and every child knows exactly who they belong to."

Caden looked down at her, the dark, predatory edge that once defined him entirely softened by the woman in his arms and the laughter of the children playing on the lawn. He pressed a gentle kiss to the top of her head.

"Good," Caden whispered against her hair, his grip tightening around her as the sun crested the horizon, bathing the entire coastline in a fierce, unbreakable light. "Let's make sure nobody ever forgets it."
