Chapter 3 - The Cold Truth ExposedElena didn't blink. She looked down at her husband with an expression of such absolute, chilling pity that Álvaro flinched as if he had been struck.

“I told you, Álvaro,” Elena said, her voice cutting through the panicked murmurs of the family like a scalpel. “You don't own any of this.”
“Stop playing games!” Álvaro screamed, lunging forward and grabbing her wet sleeve. “Fix this right now! Call your bank! Tell them there’s been a mistake! My restaurant expansion project—my accounts—everything is locked! My card was just declined in front of my mother’s friends!”
Mercedes, hearing the commotion, hurried across the terrace, her diamond bracelets clinking violently.
“Álvaro, what is going on? Why is everyone shouting about credit cards?” Mercedes demanded, glaring daggers at Elena. “And why is she still standing here dripping water everywhere? Make her go inside!”
“Mother, shut up!” Álvaro snapped, his voice cracking hysterically as he shook Elena’s arm. “She did something! She locked our accounts! Tell me what you did, you ungrateful parasite!”
Elena’s eyes flashed with lethal fire. With a sharp, sudden jerk, she ripped her arm out of his grasp, stumbling back a half-step.
“A parasite?” Elena repeated, her voice rising in volume, echoing off the stone walls of the mansion. “Let’s talk about parasites, Álvaro. Let’s talk about the De La Rosa family legacy.”
She stepped forward into the amber light, commanding the attention of every single person on the terrace.
“For five years, you all treated me like an outsider who got lucky,” Elena stated clearly, pointing a finger toward Mercedes. “You mocked my career, you called my company ‘boring freight,’ and you sat back while Álvaro acted like a self-made titan of industry. But none of you ever asked where the money came from.”
Silence fell over the terrace. Even the wind seemed to die down.
“Every single luxury surrounding you right now,” Elena continued, sweeping her hand across the sprawling estate, “was paid for by Northstar Medical Logistics. I founded that company with three delivery vans before I ever met your son. I placed my assets in an irrevocable trust to protect my business from liability. The lease on this Aspen estate? Paid by my corporate account. Álvaro’s luxury SUV? Financed under my corporate guarantee. Mateo’s construction company? Kept afloat entirely by my personal credit lines.”

She locked her piercing gaze onto a completely paralyzed Álvaro.
“You are not a billionaire, Álvaro,” Elena whispered coldly. “You are a kept man. And as of eleven minutes ago... you are completely broke.”
