Chapter 7 - Dawn at the Maternity SuiteHigh above the city lights of Denver, the private executive maternity suite at Aspen General Hospital was bathed in warm, gentle morning sunlight.

Elena sat propped up in a plush hospital bed, sipping warm chamomile tea. Her vitals were completely stabilized, her blood pressure normal, and the continuous fetal monitor recorded a strong, steady heartbeat pulsing rhythmically from within her womb.
The door clicked open softly.
Evelyn Vance walked in, carrying a thick leather briefcase and a fresh stack of legal documents, looking like an absolute champion of corporate warfare.
“Good morning, Boss,” Evelyn smiled brightly, pulling up a chair beside the bed. “How are you holding up?”
“I slept better than I have in five years, Evelyn,” Elena replied, setting her teacup down with a quiet clink. “Give me the update. What’s the status of the portfolio?”
Evelyn opened her leather briefcase, pulling out a summary report and sliding it across the tray table.
“It’s an absolute wipeout, Elena,” Evelyn reported with a triumphant grin.
The Aspen Estate: Cleared of all occupants by 2:00 AM. The property management firm has already listed it for long-term corporate leasing under our direct control.
Álvaro’s Corporate Entities: All subsidiary accounts frozen, audited, and flagged for federal investigation regarding fraudulent fund allocation.
Mateo and Carlos: Currently sitting in county lockup facing felony assault charges, bail denied due to flight risk concerns.
Mercedes: Currently holed up in a cheap highway motel outside Denver, desperately trying to call European friends who have already blocked her number.
Elena scanned the figures, a deep, satisfying sense of peace washing over her soul. “And the divorce proceedings?”

“Drawn up and ready for expedited filing,” Evelyn nodded firmly. “Under the prenuptial agreement you wisely insisted on before the wedding—which Álvaro never bothered to read—he waived all rights to your pre-existing corporate assets, personal holdings, and future equity. He leaves this marriage with exactly zero dollars, zero assets, and a criminal record.”
“Good,” Elena murmured, resting one hand over her swollen stomach. “File it immediately.”
