Chapter 10 - The Queen on Her ThroneFive years later.

The corporate headquarters of Northstar Medical Logistics stood proudly in downtown Denver—a towering fifty-story glass skyscraper overlooking the snow-capped peaks of the Rocky Mountains.

On the top-floor executive balcony, Elena stood in a sharp, elegant navy blue suit, the morning wind catching her dark hair.

Running across the polished marble floor of the office, chasing a small golden retriever puppy, was a bright, energetic five-year-old girl wearing a pink dress and shiny red shoes.

“Mommy! Mommy, look! I drew a picture of our new medical supply helicopter!” little Maya called out proudly, holding up a sheet of paper covered in bright crayons and clumsy drawings of soaring aircraft.

Elena smiled warmly, walking back inside and kneeling down to scoop her daughter into her arms. She looked at the drawing—a rescue helicopter flying over blooming flowers and bright sunbeams, funded entirely by the Maya Foundation for Mothers in Need, an organization Elena had established to protect and shelter women escaping domestic abuse and financial control.

“It’s a masterpiece, sweetheart,” Elena murmured, kissing her cheek.
