Chapter 5 - Unmasking the Traitor: David's Downfall and the Golden Trap He Walked Right Into!

Robert fell back into his leather chair, his face a mask of sheer terror.

“You... you couldn't have,” Vivian stammered, her voice trembling as she looked at me. “Your mother died broke! She was a nobody!”

“My mother was a Sterling-Vance, Vivian,” I said, turning my cold gaze to my stepmother. “She let you and my father play your pathetic little country club games while she secured a billion-dollar legacy. A legacy you will never touch a single cent of.”

But I wasn’t done.

“And now, let’s talk about how Robert acquired my company’s assets in the first place,” I said, gesturing to the door.

The doors opened again. This time, two federal agents walked in, escorting a pale, sweating, and handcuffed man.

It was David.

My former business partner looked at the floor, unable to meet my eyes.

“David was caught trying to board a private flight to Switzerland yesterday afternoon,” I explained to the stunned board. “It turns out, when you have a billion dollars, you can hire the best private investigators in the world. We tracked the $5 million bribe Robert paid you directly from a shell company registered in Panama. David has already signed a full confession to avoid a twenty-year sentence.”

Robert’s eyes darted around the room like a trapped animal. “Elena... please. It was a business decision... we can talk about this. We’re married!”

“We were married, Robert,” I corrected him, taking a step back. “Until you forged my signature on a postnuptial agreement and threw me out in a storm. But don't worry. The police are waiting downstairs for you, too. Corporate fraud, bribery, embezzlement, and conspiracy. You’re going to look great in orange.”
