Chapter 9 - The Rise of Vance GlobalSix months later, the financial district of Manhattan looked entirely different.

Where the towering, decaying monolith of Hargrove Holdings once stood, construction had already begun on a sleek, ultramodern glass-and-steel eco-tower—the new international headquarters of Vance Global Industries.
Inside the grand auditorium on the 80th floor, flashbulbs popped continuously as hundreds of international journalists, tech founders, and global investors gathered for the most anticipated corporate keynote of the year.
The digital screens behind the stage flashed a bold, minimalist logo: VANCE GLOBAL: THE FUTURE OF SUSTAINABLE FINANCE.
Behind the podium stood a woman in a custom midnight-blue silk suit, her hair styled in sleek waves, her expression composed, brilliant, and utterly unshakeable.
"For decades," my voice echoed through the state-of-the-art auditorium, transmitted live to millions of viewers worldwide, "the financial world has operated on illusions. We built empires on gilded facades, fragile debt structures, and the quiet labor of people whose contributions were dismissed as decorative."
I paused, looking out across the sea of cameras and powerful executives.
"True power is never about shouting the loudest in a room, or forcing others to their knees. True power is substance. It is resilience. And above all, it is knowing the true value of what you build with your own hands."
Applause erupted—thunderous, sustained, and genuine. Flashbulbs illuminated the room like a constellation of stars.
From the VIP seating section near the front, my father, Marcus Vance, sat with his hands folded in his lap, a proud, knowing smile on his face.

I looked down at him for a brief second, sharing a silent nod of mutual understanding.
The game had changed. The rules had been rewritten. And for the first time in history, the empire belonged entirely to me.
