Matthew sat beside me in the boardroom as Diane arrived, her face a mask of panicked rage. She looked at me, then at Matthew, expecting him to negotiate.
He didn't. He handed her a legal document. "This is a transfer of assets. Every share of Vance Enterprises now belongs to the Carter Group. And this," he pointed to a second folder, "is a criminal complaint for the kidnapping and assault of a minor."
