Chapter 3 - A JUDAS KISS IN THE DARK

💥 VIRAL HOOK: "She thought she found a safe haven... but the closest people always carry the sharpest knives."With her home reduced to ash and her father presumed dead, Clara had only one person left to turn to: Julian, her childhood friend and a rising accountant within the city’s neutral merchant guild.

In his dimly lit apartment, Julian tended to her scraped hands, his eyes filled with apparent tears. "Clara, this is madness. You have the Ledger of Blood? If Marcus finds out you're alive, he’ll tear this whole city apart block by block."

"I don't care about his city," Clara said, her voice dropping to a dangerous, icy whisper. Her eyes, once clear and innocent, were now forged in the same fire that took her home. "He took my father. He took my life. I am going to dismantle his empire piece by piece."

"Let me help you," Julian pleaded, placing a warm hand over hers. "I can decode the ledger. I can find where Marcus hides his untraceable wealth. We can run away together, rich and safe."

For a moment, Clara wanted to believe him. She wanted to let her guard down. She allowed Julian to take the ledger to his desk to begin deciphering the encrypted codes. Exhausted, Clara drifted into a restless sleep on his couch, dreaming of barking dogs and burning iron.

Hours later, a strange sound woke her. A low, muffled whisper coming from the hallway.

Clara crept silently to the door, her heart hammering against her ribs. Through the crack, she saw Julian speaking to a man in a tailored black suit—one of Marcus’s top lieutenants.

"She’s asleep on the couch," Julian whispered, his face twisted in greed as he clutched a heavy briefcase overflowing with stacks of hundred-dollar bills. "The ledger is on the table. Take her. Just make sure Marcus remembers our deal. The blacksmith's district belongs to me now."

Clara’s blood ran cold. The boy she had grown up with, the boy she loved like a brother, had sold her out for a briefcase of blood money.

CHAPTER 3 CLIFFHANGER HOOK: As the lieutenant drew his silenced pistol and reached for the doorknob, Clara didn't flee. She stepped out into the light, holding her father’s heavy iron tongs, a terrifying grin on her face. "You should have asked for more money, Julian," she whispered. Before they could react, the lights went completely black.
