Chapter 7 - THE CRACKING FAÇADE

Three weeks later.

The Grand Alcazar Hotel had a new management team, a new board of directors, and a completely scrubbed payroll. The Vance name had been legally expunged from every corporate ledger, asset title, and historical document associated with the luxury resort.

Up in the grand penthouse suite, the evening sun poured through the floor-to-ceiling windows, casting a warm, golden glow across the polished onyx floors.

Elena stood by the window, looking out over the sprawling resort gardens. Her skin had regained its natural warmth, her dark hair cascaded down her shoulders in soft waves, and her baby bump was now undeniable beneath a flowing silk emerald dress—a deliberate, reclamation of the color Camila had ruined weeks ago.

The heavy oak door opened softly, and footsteps echoed across the room.

Julian walked in, shedding his suit jacket as he loosened his tie. He stopped when he saw her, his expression softening instantly from the ruthless titan of industry into a man completely dismantled by love.

He walked up behind her, wrapping his arms gently around her waist, resting his palms flat against her swollen belly.

"How is our little tenant doing today?" Julian murmured, pressing a soft kiss to the crook of her neck.

Elena leaned back against his chest, a small, peaceful smile touching her lips. "Active. Much like her father. She hasn't stopped kicking all afternoon."

Julian chuckled softly, turning her around so she was facing him. He cupped her face in his hands, his thumbs gently tracing her cheekbones.

"Lucas is fully recovered," Julian said softly, his voice full of quiet reassurance. "He’s already back at his art studio in Zurich, completely protected. And the legal proceedings against the Vances are sealed. They will never, ever be able to touch you again."

Elena looked up into his eyes, searching for any lingering shadow of doubt or pain.

"Julian... when you saw me scrubbing those floors... what did you really feel?" she asked quietly, the ghost of that horrific night still lingering in her voice.

Julian’s gaze darkened with intensity, his hands tightening slightly on her waist.

"I felt like my entire world had been ripped away from me," Julian confessed, his voice thick with emotion. "I spent eight months thinking you abandoned me, hating you, trying to convince myself I didn't care. But the moment I saw you standing there in that uniform... I realized I was already dead inside for eight months. You are my oxygen, Elena. If I ever lose you again, I will burn the world down to find you."

Elena reached up, placing her hand over his heart, feeling the steady, rhythmic thud beneath his shirt.

"You won't lose us," she whispered, leaning up on her tiptoes. "We're right here."

Their lips met in a slow, deep kiss—a silent sealing of past wounds and a fierce vow for the future.

Little did they know, down in the underground parking garage of the Grand Alcazar, a single figure sat in the shadows of a parked black sedan, watching the penthouse lights flicker through the glass.
