Chapter 7 - The Final Confrontation at the CoveThe sound of churning surf grew deafening as Marcus and Leo burst out onto the rocky shore of the secluded cove. Towering stone cliffs boxed them in on three sides, leaving only one way out: the open ocean. And there were no boats in sight.

"Dad! There's nowhere to go!" Leo cried, pointing toward the crashing waves blocking the shoreline.

Heavy footsteps crunched on the gravel behind them. Marcus spun around, shoving Leo behind his back.

Three masked men stepped out from the shadows of the cliff path, their heavy combat boots crushing the smooth stones. In their hands, tactical submachine guns gleamed ominously under the pale moonlight. The leader stepped forward, lowering his weapon slightly, a cruel smirk visible beneath his balaclava.

"End of the line, Mr. Vance," the leader sneered, his voice dripping with malice. "Elena sends her regards. She said family should always stick together—even at the bottom of the ocean."

Marcus clenched his fists, his eyes scanning the rocky ground for a weapon. He found a heavy, jagged piece of driftwood, gripping it tightly with both hands. "You'll have to go through me first."

"With pleasure," the leader raised his weapon, his finger tightening on the trigger.

CRACK!

A blinding flash lit up the dark waters of the cove, followed instantly by the deafening roar of a high-caliber marine sniper rifle. The leader’s weapon was knocked violently from his hands as a bullet ripped through the metal barrel, sending sparks flying into the night air.

"Federal agents! Drop your weapons and put your hands on your heads!"

A massive tactical zodiac boat, its lights blazing, surged around the rocky headpoint of the cove, cutting through the white foam at breakneck speed. Armed federal agents in full tactical gear poured over the bow, their assault rifles locked onto the startled syndicate members.

At the helm stood Inspector Thomas Vance, his service pistol drawn, his eyes blazing with fury.

"Drop your weapons now, or you will be executed on site!" Thomas roared over the sound of the roaring engine.

The three hitmen exchanged panicked glances. Realizing they were completely outmatched, they dropped their weapons to the stones and raised their hands in the air just as federal agents swarmed forward, wrestling them to the ground and slapping heavy cuffs on their wrists.

Thomas leaped off the bow of the boat, splashing through the shallow surf, and rushed straight toward Marcus and Leo.

"Are you okay?" Thomas grabbed Marcus by the shoulders, his eyes scanning them both for injuries.

"We're safe," Marcus exhaled, his knees finally giving out as he pulled his son into a crushing embrace. "Tom... they killed Sarah. Elena killed her."

"I know," Thomas said grimly, his jaw tight as he looked back toward the cliffside mansion. "We found the encrypted files on her main server thirty minutes ago. Every bank account, every offshore asset, and the confession recording she kept of Sarah’s murder. Elena’s empire is gone. She’ll never see the light of day again."

Marcus closed his eyes, letting out a long, shuddering breath as the terrifying weight of the past week finally lifted from his shoulders. He looked down at Leo, who was staring out at the calm, moonlit horizon where the dark storm clouds were finally beginning to part.
