Chapter 16 - The Syndicate Dismantled

Before Victor could draw a breath, Marcus and his men moved across the room like shadows. In less than thirty seconds, every enforcer was disarmed, zip-tied, and pinned against the mahogany paneling.
I reached across the table, picked up Victor’s glass of whiskey, and poured it slowly over the stack of syndicate manifestos spread across the wood.
"Your brother's network is finished, Victor," I said, leaning in close so only he could hear. "The federal marshals are already moving in on your shipping containers in Baltimore. Every shell corporation, every offshore account, every bribe ledger you inherited? It's all sitting in an encrypted drive on Eleanor Vance's desk right now."
Victor’s knees buckled, and he dropped heavily onto the shattered chair beneath him. "You can't... you'll spend the rest of your life in a supermax prison."
"Prison?" I let out a low, humorless laugh. "I'm not sending you to prison, Victor. Prison is for criminals who broke the law. You're going somewhere much quieter."
I signaled to Marcus with a flick of my wrist. Two men stepped forward, grabbing Victor by the shoulders and hauling him to his feet.

"Where are you taking me?" Victor screamed, thrashing wildly as they dragged him toward the service elevator.
"To a cargo ship bound for an unregistered port in the middle of the Atlantic," I said quietly, watching him disappear into the dark corridor. "You wanted my empire, Victor. Go run it from the bottom of the sea."
