Chapter 7 - The Tables Have TurnedVictoria staggered backward, her breath catching in her throat. "S-Sebastian? How... how are you here? You were bankrupt! You were destroyed!"

"You forgot one fundamental rule of business, Victoria," Sebastian said smoothly, walking toward the mahogany desk and placing his palms flat on its surface, leaning down until he was eye-level with his former bride. "A man who has nothing left to lose is far more dangerous than a man who only cares about gain."
He turned to Victoria’s trembling father. "Mr. Vance, your board has already voted. Due to gross mismanagement, fraudulent accounting practices brought to light by Chronos Capital, and imminent bankruptcy, you are hereby stripped of your title, your shares, and your office."
"This is illegal! I'll sue you into oblivion!" the old man roared, slamming his fists on the desk.
"Sue with what money?" Sebastian countered calmly, tossing a thick legal binder onto the desk. "Every offshore account you hid has been frozen under international anti-fraud statutes. Your mansion is already foreclosed. By midnight, you will be escorted off these premises."

Victoria burst into hysterical tears, sinking to her knees right where her father had once stood proud. "Sebastian, please! We were going to be married! Have mercy on us!"
Sebastian looked down at her with complete detachment. "Mercy? You asked my daughters what kind of man ignores his own blood for power. Today, you’re about to find out what happens when that blood comes back to collect."
