Chapter 3 - The Breach

Christmas morning didn't bring joy; it brought a heavy silence that warned of an incoming storm. Dr. Aris arrived and stabilized Noah, but he pulled Michael aside with a grave warning. "The boy needs surgery, Michael. He can’t have it in this hotel, and he can’t have it at a public hospital. They’ll find him."

Michael made a decision that would either save them or ruin him. He used his private jet hangar as a makeshift surgical theater.

"Move everyone," he commanded.

They were halfway to the airfield when the ambush happened. An SUV rammed them from the side, sending their car spinning into a snowbank. Gunfire shattered the silence of the holiday morning.

Michael shielded Kelly with his own body. He felt the bite of glass and the cold sting of the wind as the car door was ripped off. A man stepped forward, clad in a sleek black suit—a professional cleaner.

"The boy, Mr. Carter," the man said, his voice devoid of emotion. "And the girl. Walk away, and you get to keep your daughter."

It was a choice no father should ever face. Save the world, or save his own blood.
