Chapter 3 - The Billionaire's Breach

The reinforced wooden door of St. Jude’s basement didn't just open; it splintered with a deafening crack as a heavily built private security operative kicked it off its rusted hinges.
"Clear!" the lead operative barked, stepping into the dim, damp corridor with a tactical flashlight sweeping the shadows.
Right behind him, pushing past the guards with wild, frantic eyes, was Grant Calloway. His overcoat was dusted with snow, his tie slightly askew, and his chest heaving. The pristine, untouchable corporate titan was entirely gone, replaced by a desperate, terrifying predator hunting for his cubs.
"Sir, stay back. We don't know who or what is—" Harrison started, raising a hand.
"Shut up, Harrison," Grant snarled, his gaze darting across the room.
The smell hit him first—a heartbreaking cocktail of damp concrete, old dust, and the unmistakable, poignant scent of infant formula and unwashed laundry. Then, his eyes locked onto the corner behind the stack of hymnals.
He saw the old woman holding a ragged blanket. And then, he saw the small, terrified face of a little girl staring back at him with striking, piercing green eyes.
Olivia’s eyes.
"Harper?" Grant breathed, his voice dropping an octave, losing all its corporate armor. He took a staggering step forward, dropping to his knees on the filthy concrete floor, ignoring the dampness soaking through his expensive trousers.
Harper scrambled backward, pulling the crying infants closer to her chest. "Stay away! You're... you're not him. You're just a rich man."
"Harper, look at me," Grant pleaded, holding up his hands, showing palms empty of any threat. He pulled out the custom, heavy-platinum signet ring bearing the Calloway family crest—the exact match to the one Olivia had sketched on a napkin in the Lantern Room eighteen months ago. "I'm Grant. I'm your father."
The little girl stared at the ring, her lower lip trembling. The cold had stolen her strength, but the truth in his desperate eyes bypassed her fear.
"You took too long," she whispered, a tear finally breaking free. "Mama... Mama waited. Every single night, she looked at that ring drawing and she cried. And then she went to sleep and she... she never woke up."
The words struck Grant like a physical blow to the stomach. The world around him spun out of focus. Dead. Olivia was truly gone. The only woman who had ever seen past his billions and loved the broken man underneath was buried in some pauper's grave, while he had been sitting in high-rise boardrooms discussing quarterly projections.

"Mr. Calloway!" Harrison shouted from the doorway, his radio crackling with static. "We have a massive problem. Perimeter sensors just picked up multiple thermal signatures approaching from the alleyway. Unidentified vehicles. They've cut off our exit."
Grant’s head snapped up. The vulnerability vanished instantly, replaced by the razor-sharp, lethal focus of a billionaire whose family had just been cornered.
