Chapter 3 - The Secret WardSterile white lights hummed above Claire as the emergency room doors swung open. Nurses and doctors moved with ruthless efficiency, shouting medical jargon that blurred into white noise in Claire's ears.

"Internal bleeding in the left flank. Prep for immediate exploratory laparoscopy!" the trauma surgeon barked.
Claire drifted in and out of consciousness. Through the fog of heavy sedatives, strange memories flashed behind her eyelids—not her own, but fragments of conversations she shouldn't have known about. A whispered argument in a basement. A signature forged on a yellowed legal document. The date: October 14, five years ago. The day her father supposedly died in a fiery car crash.
Except, he didn't die.
A hand gripped her wrist—warm, calloused, familiar. Ethan's voice cut through the darkness. "I'm here, Claire. They can't touch you here. I found the file."
Claire tried to squeeze his hand back, her lips moving without sound. The trust... she wanted to warn him. It's all a lie.

Outside the intensive care unit, down the long, linoleum-floored corridor, a figure in a black trench coat watched through the reinforced glass window. The stranger raised a gloved hand, tapped a Bluetooth earpiece, and spoke in a low, distorted whisper: "Target is in surgery. Ethan has the first document. Should we execute phase two?"
A voice crackled back through the receiver, cold and distorted by a digital filter: "Not yet. Let him dig his own grave first. Make sure the local precinct intercepts his call to the police."
