Chapter 4 - The Boardroom AmbushThe following Monday morning.

The grand executive boardroom of Han Textile in Mapo-gu was packed to absolute capacity.

Sunlight poured through the floor-to-ceiling windows, illuminating the polished walnut conference table where the board of directors sat whispering anxiously among themselves.

At the head of the table sat Han Mi-sook, wearing an expensive white Chanel suit, her face painted with a triumphant, untouchable smile. Beside her sat her daughter So-yeon, wearing diamond earrings and scrolling through her phone with bored indifference.

“Thank you all for attending this emergency shareholder meeting,” Mi-sook announced loudly, standing up and adjusting her lapels. “As you know, our family holding company has faced minor liquidity adjustments recently. However, I am thrilled to announce that we have finalized a multi-billion-won acquisition agreement with a major international syndicate. The contract will be signed and sealed today.”

Several corrupt board members clapped politely.

“There is just one small administrative formality,” Mi-sook continued, her smile turning razor-sharp. “According to the original estate charter, the remaining five percent legacy equity still technically belonged to my late husband’s estranged daughter, Seo-yeon. But since she has officially abandoned the property and forfeited her legal guardianship status as of last Friday... her shares are hereby voided.”

“Are they?”

The heavy mahogany doors of the boardroom swung open with a resounding thud.

All heads snapped toward the entrance.

I walked down the center aisle. I wasn't wearing my old, frayed sweater or my faded jeans. I wore a sharp, tailored charcoal-grey pantsuit, my hair pulled back into a sleek, commanding chignon, carrying a thick leather briefcase embossed with the official seal of Miran Group.

Behind me walked four towering corporate attorneys in dark suits—and trailing right behind them, leaning slightly on his polished wooden cane, was Chairman Kang Ji-hoon himself.

Mi-sook’s jaw dropped so fast her teeth clicked together. Her face turned the color of spoiled milk.
