Chapter 6 - A Family Affair of Blood and Power“Julian,” Nathan said, his voice dropping an octave, deadpan and glacial. “What are you doing here?”

Julian casually stepped into the room, his polished shoes clicking against the linoleum floor. He glanced briefly toward the sleeping Maya, then let his gaze drift to the incubator where baby Leo lay breathing steadily.

“I have people everywhere, Nathan. Security feeds in Westfield Square are tied into the corporate network. When my favorite cousin decides to play knight in shining armor and carry a homeless infant into Saint Jude’s, my phone tends to vibrate,” Julian said smoothly, stepping closer to the glass.

Julian’s eyes narrowed as he looked at the baby. There was no warmth in his expression—only a cold, calculating assessment, like an investor looking at a failing asset that needed to be liquidated.

“Cute, isn’t he?” Julian murmured, adjusting his cufflinks. “Though a bit wrinkled. Poor hygiene. Runs in that side of the family, I suppose.”

Nathan stepped squarely between Julian and the incubator, his shoulder squaring off against his cousin. “What do you know about this, Julian?”

“Know?” Julian raised an eyebrow, feigning innocent surprise. “I know that my philanthropic cousin is letting his emotions get the better of him again. Always the bleeding heart. First the corporate grants for community centers, now adopting street rats. It’s unbecoming of a Fischer.”

“Don’t play games with me,” Nathan growled, stepping into Julian’s personal space. The height difference between them was negligible, but the sheer kinetic tension in the room was palpable. “David’s children. Elena Rostova. You knew they were here, didn't you? The note said someone was hunting them.”

Julian’s smile didn't fade, but the warmth in his eyes—which was already virtually nonexistent—vanished completely, replaced by a chilling, corporate ruthlessness.

“David was a fool, Nathan,” Julian whispered softly, leaning in so only Nathan could hear. “He wanted to break away from the conglomerate. He wanted to give half our grandfather’s empire to a woman from the slums. Accidents happen in the Alps. Everyone agreed on that. But loose ends? Loose ends have a habit of crawling out of the woodwork.”

Nathan’s fist clenched so hard his knuckles turned white inside his pockets. “If you touch them—if you come anywhere near Maya or this baby—I will tear Fischer Global down to its foundation and bury you with it.”

Julian chuckled softly, patting Nathan on the cheek with patronizing familiarity.

May you like

“You can’t bury what you own, cousin. And remember... the board meets tomorrow morning at nine. If you miss it to play babysitter, I’ll motion for your removal as CEO before you can even spell guardianship.”

Julian turned on his heel and strolled out of the room, leaving the door wide open behind him.
