Chapter 6 - THE FINAL EXHIBIT"The prosecution would now like to enter Exhibit H into evidence," DA Vance announced, stepping forward with a secure digital drive. "The complete, unedited high-definition security footage from the Sanders residence kitchen, dated October 14th."

The large projection screen at the front of the courtroom flickered to life.

Every person in the gallery held their breath as the high-resolution video began to play. The audio was crystal clear, amplified through the courtroom's premium sound system.

On screen, my kitchen appeared bright and spotless. I was standing near the stove, plating dinner. Then, Joyce walked into the frame, her face twisted in a cruel, venomous snarl.

“You’re too slow,” the recorded voice of Joyce echoed through the silent courtroom. “Let me show you how a real woman serves my son.”

On the screen, Joyce grabbed the heavy cast-iron pot filled with boiling oil from the back burner and violently thrust it forward. The searing liquid splashed across my back and chest. The video captured my piercing scream, the horrific sound of my body crashing against the tile floor, and—most damning of all—Samuel stepping calmly over my convulsing body, casually brushing a single drop of oil from his expensive Italian leather shoe.

“She’s always been clumsy,” Samuel’s recorded voice echoed in the courtroom, matching the exact lie he had told the doctor at the hospital. “She spilled hot soup on herself.”

A wave of audible gasps and sickened groans swept through the gallery. Several jurors averted their eyes from the screen, their faces pale with horror and disgust.

Joyce slumped forward in her chair, burying her face in her handcuffed hands, while Samuel stared blankly at the floor, totally defeated. The trap hadn't just caught them; it had completely dismantled their entire reality.

"The State rests, Your Honor," DA Vance said quietly, walking back to his table.

Judge Harrison looked down at the jury, then fixed his stern, unblinking gaze on the two defendants. "Does the defense have any closing statements before we hand this over for deliberation?"

Sterling slowly stood up, looked at the overwhelming mountain of video, financial, and medical evidence, and simply shook his head. "No closing statements, Your Honor. The defense rests."
