Chapter 6 - The Living ProofThe air left Ethan’s lungs in a violent, ragged gasp.
He stopped dead in his tracks. His hands began to shake violently. He stared down at Chloe, his mind desperately trying to do math that didn't add up, formulas that shattered every lie he had ever told himself.
"No," Ethan whispered, shaking his head frantically. "No... that's impossible. You... you never had kids. You couldn't. We tried for three years—"
"We tried for three years while you were looking at clinic paperwork like it was a chore," I corrected him, stopping just three steps above him on the grand staircase. I towered over him, my gaze piercing straight through his expensive tuxedo and into his shriveled soul.
"The night you decided to pack your bags and sneak downstairs to tell your little mistress that you wanted a divorce because I 'wanted a baby more than I wanted you'... do you remember what happened right before that?"
Ethan’s eyes widened to the size of saucers. Memories crashed back—the silent hallway, the closed guest bathroom door, the faint rustle of clothing.
"You..." Ethan breathed, horror dawning across his face with brutal clarity. "You were in the bathroom... You found out..."
"I found out," I finished for him, my voice dripping with ice. "Two pink lines. The exact same night you decided to throw away your family for a corporate upgrade. You thought you were walking away from a childless marriage. What you didn't know, Ethan, was that you were abandoning the exact family you had spent three years praying for."
The ballroom erupted into absolute chaos.
Gasps, murmurs, and shocked whispers bounced off the crystal chandeliers. Photographers trampled over one another, their camera lenses zooming in frantically on Ethan’s pale, sweat-soaked face and little Chloe’s calm, curious expression.

Jessica stood frozen, her mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water. "Ethan... what is she talking about? Who is that child?"
"She’s a Parker, Jessica," I answered before Ethan could speak. "She is the sole legal heir to the Parker estate. And under the fraud statutes Victoria and I filed this morning, every single asset, share, and property you and Ethan acquired over the last two years has been frozen pending full forensic audit."
