Chapter 9 - The Blueprint of a New LifeBack at my modern home overlooking Lake Washington, the morning sun poured through the floor-to-ceiling glass windows, casting warm, golden light across the hardwood floors.

I stood at my drafting table, a pencil in my hand, sketching the preliminary designs for a new community center—a sanctuary for single mothers and displaced families.
"Mommy!"
A pair of small arms wrapped tightly around my legs. I looked down to see Chloe holding up a crayon drawing of a house with giant windows, a smiling sun, and two stick figures standing side by side.
"Look, Mommy! I designed a castle for us!" Chloe beamed, her hazel eyes shining with absolute joy.
I smiled, dropping my pencil and scooping her up into my arms, burying my face in her soft curls. "It's the most beautiful castle I've ever seen, baby. No one will ever be able to knock this one down."
"Because it has strong walls?" Chloe asked seriously.
"Because it's built on truth, love, and a rock-solid foundation," I whispered, kissing her forehead.
My phone buzzed on the drafting table. It was an email notification from Victoria Vance.
Subject: Settlement Finalized. Attachment: Final Decree of Sole Custody and Total Asset Transfer.
I didn't even bother to open it. I simply swiped the screen away, letting the phone rest face down on the wood.
Ethan tried to call me a thousand times. He sent emails, handwritten letters, and voice messages begging for forgiveness, pleading for just one look at his daughter, crying about how lonely and ruined he was.

I blocked every number. I burned every letter without opening them.
Some structures aren't meant to be repaired. Some cracks are too deep to patch. When a man chooses to demolish his own home, you don't help him rebuild it—you simply step back, watch it fall, and build an entire kingdom on top of the ruins.
