Chapter 7 - A New Life in the ManorThat evening, the Boon Manor was filled with a warmth it hadn’t felt in decades.

In the massive, sunlit backyard, Meera and Tess chased each other through the manicured rose gardens, their laughter echoing against the stone walls. They wore pretty floral dresses and brand-new red sneakers that didn't have any tape on them.
Raymond sat on a wrought-iron patio bench, holding a cup of hot tea, watching his daughters run.
Silas walked over, holding two crystal glasses of sparkling cider, and handed one to Raymond.
“Well, Mr. Wilson,” Silas said, clinking his glass gently against Raymond’s. “The board officially ratified your position today. You are officially one of the wealthiest executives in the city. How does it feel?”
Raymond looked out at his daughters, then back at the sprawling estate that was now their home.
“It feels surreal,” Raymond admitted honestly. “For a long time, I thought the world only saw people like us as trash to be stepped over. I taught my girls to share because I wanted them to keep their humanity, even when we had nothing.”
“And because they kept their humanity, they saved mine,” Silas said softly, his voice thick with emotion. “I’m setting up a trust fund tomorrow morning. Fifty million dollars dedicated entirely to building housing and food programs for struggling families in the city. And I want you to run it, Raymond.”

Raymond stared at the billionaire, stunned. “Run it? Are you sure?”
“Who better to manage a foundation for the poor than a man who knows what it means to share his last piece of bread?” Silas smiled.
