Chapter 8 - The Ghost of the Past ReturnsSix months passed like a dream.

The Boon Foundation became a beacon of hope, building modern community housing complexes and feeding thousands of families across the tri-state area. Raymond proved himself to be a brilliant, compassionate executive, earning the respect of every board member and employee at Boon Industries.

Meera and Tess were enrolled in one of the finest private academies in the city, where they excelled in their classes and spent their afternoons painting pictures of their new home—and always including a tiny drawing of a loaf of bread in the corner.

But peace, in the corporate world, is often a fragile thing.

One rainy Tuesday afternoon, while Raymond was reviewing architectural blueprints for a new community center in his office, the heavy oak door swung open without a knock.

Raymond looked up, expecting Silas or his secretary.

Instead, standing in the doorway was a woman in a mud-splattered trench coat, her dark hair wet from the rain, her eyes wide, haunted, and utterly disbelieving.

Raymond froze. The blue pen slipped from his fingers, clattering softly against the wooden desk.
