Chapter 9 - The Truth Behind the DisappearanceSarah staggered into the office, bursting into tears as she fell against the edge of the desk.

“Raymond... oh, thank God,” she sobbed, clutching her chest. “I finally found you. I read about the Boon Foundation in the papers... I saw your face.”
Raymond stood up slowly, his legs trembling. Anger, confusion, and overwhelming grief warred inside his chest.
“You left us, Sarah,” Raymond said, his voice hard, though his eyes were swimming with tears. “Five years ago, when the debt collectors came, you walked out the door and never came back. We searched for months. We thought you were dead.”
“I didn't leave by choice!” Sarah cried, grabbing his hands. “Julian Boon’s men... they approached me. They knew we were drowning in debt. They threatened to kill you and take the twins away from me unless I signed away my rights and disappeared. They locked me in a private rehabilitation facility upstate under a false name, keeping me drugged and isolated so I couldn't reach you!”
Raymond’s breath hitched. The pieces fell into place with terrifying clarity. Julian Boon—the very monster they had just put behind bars—had orchestrated the destruction of his family years ago.
“They told me you hated me,” Sarah wept. “They told me you abandoned us first.”

Raymond pulled his wife into his arms, crushing her against his chest as the years of pain washed away in a flood of forgiveness and relief.
“I never stopped loving you, Sarah,” Raymond whispered fiercely into her hair. “And neither did the girls. They talk to your picture every single morning.”
