Chapter 7 - A New Dawn
Three months later.
The glittering sun set over a beautiful coastal estate in Nayarit. Don Ignacio sat on a wide porch, watching the waves crash against the shore. He looked healthier, the lines of stress completely erased from his face.
Beside him sat Alejandro (El Chivo), no longer wearing his heavy leather jacket, but dressed in a sharp, casual linen shirt. They were laughing, sharing a plate of handmade tamales.
Ignacio’s phone buzzed on the table. He glanced at it. It was a text from Roberto, who was now working twelve-hour shifts as a low-level manager at a logistics warehouse, struggling to pay off his debts. The text read: Dad, please. Just let me see the kids. They miss their grandfather. We are starving.
Ignacio didn't reply. He blocked the number, placing the phone face down. He had sent monthly, anonymous checks to his grandchildren's schools to ensure their education was paid for—because he was a man of honor—but his children would never touch a single dime of his wealth again. They had to learn the hard way what it meant to earn a living, and more importantly, what it meant to respect their elders.
Around the estate, dozens of members of Alejandro’s club were gathered, preparing a massive barbecue. Children were running around the lawn, laughing. It was a real family. Not built on blood, but built on loyalty, respect, and mutual love.
Ignacio raised his glass of tequila, looking up at the sky, whispering a silent message to his late wife. Rosario, our legacy is safe. I finally found my children.
He turned to Alejandro, clinking his glass against the younger man's. "To family," Ignacio said.
