Chapter 2 - The Eviction Party (The Illusion Shatters)

"From a penthouse suite to the pavement: The day the golden boy realized he was just a tenant."
By 8:00 AM, the storm had cleared, but a different kind of tempest was brewing at the St. Jude Luxury Residences. Vanessa was demanding a gourmet breakfast from the nursing staff when the door to the suite opened. It wasn’t the nurse. It was two men in sharp black suits, accompanied by the hospital’s chief administrator.
"Mr. and Mrs. Vance," the administrator said, looking highly uncomfortable. "I'm afraid I have to ask you to vacate the VIP suite immediately."
Vanessa gasped, nearly dropping the baby. "Excuse me? Do you know who my husband is? He funds your charity galas!"
"Actually, ma'am, he doesn't," the administrator replied, handing Daniel a legal notice. "The corporate credit card on file has been declined. Furthermore, the private donor who paid for this entire wing in advance—Mrs. Evelyn Vance—has revoked your access. You are being downgraded to the general ward, or you may check out."
"Daniel, do something!" Vanessa shrieked.
Daniel tried to call his assistant, but his phone line had been disconnected for non-payment. His personal accounts, tied to the corporate structure I controlled, were completely inaccessible.
Panic setting in, Daniel rushed Vanessa and the baby out of the hospital, leaving behind the hand-knitted blue blanket I had made. They hailed a taxi—forced to pay with the meager cash Vanessa had in her purse—and drove straight to their multi-million dollar penthouse.
When the elevator doors opened to their private floor, they were greeted by a team of professional movers packing their belongings into cardboard boxes. Standing in the center of the living room, holding a clipboard, was Miriam Cole.
"What is the meaning of this?!" Vanessa roared, rushing forward. "Get your filthy hands off my Italian leather sofa!"
Miriam didn't flinch. She looked at Vanessa with chilly professional disdain. "This sofa was purchased with an allowance provided by the Vance Holding Estate. Since Mr. Vance has breached the moral codes outlined in the 2018 Trust Agreement, the estate has repossessed the property. You have exactly twenty minutes to gather your personal clothing. Anything purchased with company funds stays."
Daniel stepped forward, his arrogance entirely gone, replaced by a desperate, sweaty panic. "Miriam, please. Where is my mother? Let me speak to her! This is insane, it's just a family dispute!"
May you like
Miriam smiled coldly. "Your mother is currently in a board meeting, Daniel. Re-possessing your life."
Chapter 2 Hook: As Vanessa screamed at the movers, she grabbed her expensive diamond necklace, only for a security guard to block her hand. "Drop it, ma'am," the guard said. "The invoice was paid by your mother-in-law. It belongs to her now."
