He leaked false information to his father’s intelligence network, suggesting he was taking the "Bennett widow" with him to silence her.
They staged a fake departure at O'Hare airport. As they walked toward the private hangar, Clare felt eyes on them from every shadow. She was terrified, but she held the babies close, their warmth a grounding weight.
"Whatever happens," Ryan whispered, "get to the black SUV. Don't look back."
Suddenly, a black sedan screeched onto the tarmac, blocking their path. Four men in tactical gear emerged.
