Chapter 7 - "THE REAL PUPPET MASTER": LINDA’S FALSE IDENTITYBy sunrise, the hospital was secured by over fifty armed federal agents and military personnel. The news of the failed hospital raid made global headlines. The syndicate's attack on a U.S. military officer's family on American soil had crossed a line that mobilized the entire federal government.

At FBI Headquarters in Chicago, Special Agent Sarah Miller and Colonel Bennett stood behind a one-way mirror, looking into an interrogation room. Inside sat Linda Miller, her mask of high-society elegance completely shattered.

"We ran her fingerprints through the Interpol global database after the hospital attack," Agent Miller told Bennett, handing him a digital file. "The woman sitting in that room isn't Linda Miller. Her real name is Elena Petrov."

Colonel Bennett’s eyes narrowed as he read the file. "A former operative for foreign organized crime rings."

"Exactly," Agent Miller explained. "Thirty years ago, she assumed the identity of a deceased American socialite. She has spent the last three decades marrying wealthy men, orchestrating their 'accidental' deaths, and seizing their assets to fund syndicate operations in North America. Ryan isn't even her biological son—he was an orphan she adopted and groomed from childhood to be her puppet in financial fraud schemes."

Colonel Bennett opened the door and walked into the interrogation room. The heavy iron door slammed shut behind him.

Elena (Linda) looked up, sneering. "Come to gloat, Colonel? You think you've won? My organization has deep roots. You can't destroy us."

Bennett sat down across from her, placing a pen and a single sheet of paper on the table.

"Your organization no longer exists," Bennett said plainly.

Elena laughed mockingly. "You lie."

"At 0300 hours this morning," Bennett detailed calmly, "joint Task Force Vanguard launched simultaneous raids across three countries—Cyprus, Poland, and Chicago. Viktor Rostova was captured at his estate in Zurich. All shell accounts tied to your syndicate have been frozen under national security forfeiture laws. You are broke, Elena. Your associates are in black-site detention centers. And you are sitting in a room with a man who has nothing left to give you except a choice."

Elena’s smug expression slowly dissolved. The cold, mathematical reality of Bennett's words broke through her defense.

"What choice?" she whispered, her voice finally showing fear.

"You sign this full confession," Bennett pointed to the paper. "You detail every single politician, judge, and attorney on your payroll—including the ones who helped you torture my daughter. You do this, and I ensure you spend the rest of your life in a maximum-security federal prison."

"And if I refuse?" Elena spat.

Colonel Bennett leaned across the table, his eyes darker than the void.

"If you refuse," Bennett whispered, "I transfer you to a military black site in Guantanamo Bay under enemy combatant classification. You will never see the sun again. You will never speak to another human being. You will cease to exist."

Elena stared into the eyes of the Army Colonel and realized he wasn't making a threat. He was stating an absolute factual reality.

Her hand trembled as she reached for the pen. With tears of defeat pouring down her face, she began to write.
