Chapter 4 - The Boardroom Ambush“You told her what?” I turned sharply, shaking off Adrien’s hand. “That I wouldn't care? That we were just roommates?”

Adrien glared at Clare before shifting his gaze to me, his expression hardening into pure ice. “Clare doesn't know how business works, Natalie. This doesn't concern her.”
“It concerns her very much,” I retorted, stepping back inside and leaving the door wide open for Clare to see right through the facade. “She thinks she married a billionaire. In about two hours, she’s going to be married to an unemployed fraud facing multiple lawsuits for investor deception.”
Clare gasped, looking between the two of us. “Adrien? What is she talking about? The company is worth millions. You said we were set for life!”
Adrien ignored her, grabbing my wrist with a grip that left no room for argument. “Nat. Enough. We are going to my office right now. You are going to sign the IP over to Vanguard, and in exchange, I’ll let you walk away with a million-dollar severance. It’s more than fair.”
I looked down at his hand gripping my wrist, then slowly raised my eyes to meet his.
“Let go of me,” I whispered.

“You’re invited to the board meeting tonight, Adrien,” I said, straightening my sleeves. “In fact, you better be there. Because I’m walking into the headquarters at 6:00 PM, and I’m presenting the board with a complete buyout offer. I’m taking over Vanguard Tech. And you’re fired.”
