Chapter 6 - The Kidnapping in the DarkThe hallway of the east wing was pitch black.

The emergency nightlights cast long, eerie shadows across the walls. Alessandro reached Sophia’s quarters, throwing the heavy wooden door open with a deafening crash.

The room was empty.

The bed was unmade. A window overlooking the back gardens hung wide open, the cold midnight wind whipping white sheer curtains into a frenzy. On the wooden floor lay a single object, glinting faintly in the moonlight.

Emma’s toy wooden horse.

And beside it, scrawled on a scrap of paper in sharp red lipstick:

“You took everything from me, Alessandro. If you want the maid and her brat back alive, come to Pier 49 alone before sunrise. Bring the shipping keys, or bring body bags.”

Alessandro’s blood turned to ice in his veins.

Marco rushed into the room behind him, taking in the open window and the ransom note.

“Boss... Petrov has them,” Marco said, his voice laced with shock. “It’s a trap. Pier 49 is a fortified killing zone. If you walk in there alone, you won't walk out.”

Alessandro slowly closed his fist around the paper note, crushing it until his knuckles turned pure white. The cold, calculated mafia boss—the man who had built an empire on absolute control—was gone. In his place stood a man whose world had just been shattered.

“A trap?” Alessandro whispered, his voice trembling with a terrifying, suppressed fury. “Let Petrov build his trap. Let him stack every gun he has against these walls.”

He turned around, his eyes blazing with lethal, unmitigated fire. 🇦🇺

“Mobilize every man we have,” Alessandro commanded, his voice echoing through the empty hallway like thunder. “Arm the syndicates. Call in every debt owed to the Moretti family. If Petrov so much as scratches that child or her mother, I will personally burn his entire empire down to ash and salt the earth where it stood.”
