Chapter 8 - The Confrontation in the WarehouseThe massive corrugated metal doors of Pier 49 groaned open with a loud, metallic shriek.

Alessandro stepped into the cavernous, dimly lit warehouse. Overhead crane tracks cast long, skeletal shadows across stacks of rusted shipping containers.
“Well, well, well,” a deep, mocking voice echoed from the upper catwalk.
Viktor Petrov stepped into the dim light, leaning against the metal railing with a smirk on his face. Beside him stood Isabella, her white wedding dress stained with dirt and grease at the hem, her eyes gleaming with vindictive triumph.
Below them, bound to a heavy wooden chair in the center of the concrete floor, sat Sophia Carter. Her face was pale, her wrists tied tightly with industrial zip-ties. Cuddled tightly against her lap, wide-eyed and shaking with silent terror, was three-year-old Emma, clutching the white rose Alessandro had given her earlier that day.
“You actually came alone,” Petrov laughed, walking down the metal staircase with two armed guards flanking him. “I always knew the great Moretti was ruthless, but I never took you for a romantic fool.”
Alessandro stopped twenty feet away, his hands resting loosely at his sides. He didn't look at Petrov. He didn't look at Isabella. His dark eyes locked entirely onto little Emma.
Emma sniffled, her small voice cutting through the hollow warehouse.
“Mister... are you going to save us?” she whispered.

Alessandro’s chest tightened violently. He swallowed the lump in his throat, offering the little girl a fierce, reassuring nod.
“Yes, little one,” Alessandro promised, his voice ringing loud and clear through the vast space. “I am.”
