Chapter 7 - The Journey to Pier 49The black armored SUV cut through the deserted, rain-slicked streets of the industrial district at breakneck speed, its headlights slicing through the heavy fog rolling off the dark harbor.

Inside the vehicle, Alessandro sat in total silence.

He checked the magazine of his customized Beretta pistol with mechanical precision, sliding it back into his holster with a sharp click. Beside him sat Marco, tapping furiously on a tactical tablet, linking satellite feeds and drone surveillance over the target zone.

“We have thermal imaging of Pier 49, Boss,” Marco briefed rapidly. “At least thirty heavily armed Russian operatives stationed inside the main warehouse. Isabella is inside the central office with Petrov. The hostages—Sophia and Emma—are being held in the lower cargo hold.”

“Are our men in position?” Alessandro asked, his eyes locked on the dark windshield ahead.

“Three strike teams flanking the perimeter. Sniper overwatch on the grain silos. We can breach on your mark.”

“No,” Alessandro said coldly. “Hold position until I walk through the front doors. I want Petrov to look me in the eye when I take everything away from him.”

The SUV slowed to a halt a quarter-mile from Pier 49, shrouded by shipping containers and thick shadows.

Alessandro opened the door and stepped out into the biting midnight chill. He adjusted his black overcoat, his face carved from stone. He wasn't just walking into a warehouse filled with armed killers; he was walking into the fire to reclaim the only people who had ever shown him what true, uncorrupted innocence looked like.
