Chapter 5 - THE UNRAVELING OF MORETTI HOLDINGSThe dismantling of Adrian Moretti’s life didn't happen with a dramatic gunfight or a cinematic explosion. It happened with the quiet, devastating precision of a corporate guillotine falling in the dead of night.

By dawn, Lorenzo’s financial controllers had frozen every single account, credit card, and offshore holding registered in Adrian’s name. The sports cars parked in the estate driveway were repossessed before sunrise. The sleek downtown penthouse registered under shell companies was legally transferred into a blind trust bearing my maiden name.

I sat at the breakfast table in the estate's sunroom, sipping black coffee, watching the morning light wash over the manicured lawns.

Vanessa Crane was currently locked in a guest room upstairs, screaming her lungs out after security guards confiscated her designer handbags, her phone, and her boarding pass back to New York.

Adrian sat across from me at the table, hollow-eyed, unshaven, and wearing the same crumpled suit from the night before. His phone lay on the marble tabletop—completely dead, stripped of its network access and bank credentials.

"You can't do this," Adrian croaked, his voice cracking. "My father built half of this syndicate! The board will never allow—"

"The board answers to me," a deep voice said from the doorway.

Lorenzo walked into the sunroom, wearing a crisp charcoal shirt with the sleeves rolled up to his forearms, revealing the pale scar across his knuckles. He didn't look at Adrian. He walked straight to my chair, poured himself a cup of coffee, and leaned against the back of my seat, his hand resting casually on my shoulder.

"Your father’s shares were collateralized against your personal gambling and speculative debts three years ago, Adrian," Lorenzo explained calmly, taking a sip of his coffee. "I bought the debt last night. Legally, cleanly, and permanently. You are officially broke, unemployed, and excommunicated from the Moretti family ledger."

Adrian lunged forward across the table, his hands clawing at the air. "You bitch! You planned this! You planned all of it from the start!"

Before Adrian’s fingers could even brush the edge of my coffee cup, Lorenzo’s hand shot out like a striking viper. He grabbed Adrian by the collar of his shirt, yanked him straight across the table with terrifying strength, and slammed his face down against the cold marble surface with a sickening thud.

Adrian groaned, immobilized under Lorenzo’s forearm.

"Never raise your voice in her presence again," Lorenzo whispered, his face inches from Adrian’s ear. "Do you understand me?"

Adrian whimpered, nodding frantically against the stone.

Lorenzo shoved him back into his chair, where Adrian slumped like a broken puppet, clutching his bleeding nose.

"Pack your things," Lorenzo ordered coldly. "A car is waiting outside to drop you at the city limits. If you ever come within fifty miles of this estate—or of Sophia—the next time we meet won't involve lawyers."
