Chapter 5 - The Dismantling of a Dynasty“That’s impossible!” Arthur Sterling shouted, pushing his way through the stunned crowd, his face flushed with panic. “Richard Donovan owns ninety percent of Donovan Construction! No one can just seize a multi-million-dollar empire overnight!”

Alexander didn’t even blink. He tilted his head toward the corporate attorneys standing behind us.
One of the attorneys stepped forward, popping open his leather briefcase and pulling out a thick stack of embossed legal documents, holding them up for the entire ballroom to see.
“Mr. Sterling is correct that ninety percent of the voting shares were held by Richard Donovan,” the attorney announced in a crisp, surgical tone. “However, under Florida corporate code section 402-B, any executive found guilty of siphoning corporate pension funds to cover personal debt automatically forfeits their voting rights to the primary forensic auditor.”
The attorney turned a page, his voice echoing across the silent room.
“Furthermore, three years ago, when Richard Donovan forced his eldest daughter out of the company, Claire Donovan secretly retained a golden-share veto right underwritten by Vanguard Capital—a private equity fund entirely owned and operated by Vance Global Holdings.”
Gasps erupted from the crowd. Whispers tore through the rows of high-society guests like wildfire.
“Vance Global… He bought the debt?” “The entire company has been mortgaged to Alexander Vance?!” “Richard is completely wiped out!”
Vanessa grabbed her father’s arm, her voice hysterical. “Daddy! Make them stop! Tell them we’re rich! Tell them our house, our cars, our wedding—tell them it’s all ours!”
Richard couldn’t speak. His eyes were wide, bloodshot, and fixed on me with a mixture of absolute horror and incomprehension. He looked like a man who had spent his entire life building a fortress on sand, only to watch the tide wash it away in a single second.
“You… you planned this,” Richard choked out, his voice trembling as he pointed a shaking finger at me. “You set me up! You stayed away for three years just to trap me!”
I stepped out from behind Alexander’s protective shadow, walking slowly toward my father until I stood just inches away from him. The height difference didn't matter anymore; the power dynamic had completely inverted.
“You spent thirty years teaching me that weakness is a crime, Father,” I whispered, my voice dripping with cold satisfaction. “You just forgot one vital lesson.”
I reached out, gently tapping the lapel of his expensive, bespoke tuxedo—the very tuxedo he had worn to humiliate me.
“A cornered animal doesn't beg,” I said softly. “It bites back.”
Alexander raised his hand, snapping his fingers twice.

Heavy footsteps echoed from the entrance. Four federal agents from the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, accompanied by two armed U.S. Marshals, marched straight down the center aisle, their badges gleaming under the emergency lights.
“Richard Donovan,” the lead agent announced, pulling a pair of steel handcuffs from his belt. “You are under arrest for corporate fraud, grand larceny, embezzlement of employee pension funds, and falsification of federal safety records.”
