Chapter 4 - HUNTED IN THE DARKA flashbang grenade burst through the window, deafening me with a blinding white flash and an ear-splitting boom.

I fell to the floor, disoriented, my ears ringing violently. Daisy barked frantically, pulling at my sleeve. Through the thick smoke filling the nursery, I saw two dark figures dressed in tactical gear stepping through the broken window.
"Get the drive! Kill the dog!" a harsh voice ordered.
Mark grabbed for the drive in my hand, but Daisy lunged, biting hard into Mark's wrist. Mark shrieked in pain, falling backward. In the chaos, I scrambled under the crib, clutched the flash drive tightly against my chest, and crawled toward the broken hole in the wall.
It was a crazy, desperate thought, but our nursery wall backed into a large utility crawlspace beneath the house that led out toward the backyard storm drain.
I slid headfirst into the damp, dark cavity between the studs, scraping my skin against the exposed nails and mold-covered drywall. Daisy squeezed in right behind me, snapping at the boots of the heavy mercenaries attempting to grab her back legs.
"They're in the wall cavity! Flush them out!" the voice barked.
Gunshots echoed through the house—BANG! BANG! BANG! Bullets tore through the drywall above my head, raining plaster dust and fiberglass insulation onto my back.
crawling through the filth in total darkness, guided only by Daisy's panting beside me. The air was suffocating, thick with chemical fumes, but adrenaline pushed me forward. We reached the hatch leading to the underground storm drain, kicked it open, and fell into the rushing, knee-deep sludge of the city sewer system beneath our neighborhood.
I landed hard, bruising my hip, but kept my grip on the drive. Daisy splashed beside me, her paws bleeding into the dirty water, but her loyalty never wavered.

Within thirty seconds, thousands of viewers flooded the stream.
