Chapter 10 - The Unbroken HorizonThe Vigilant didn't warp away with a blinding flash or a theatrical roar. True power, Celeste had learned, made very little noise when it moved.

With a soft, sub-audible hum of advanced propulsion drives, the massive orbital carrier slipped smoothly into faster-than-light transit, leaving behind a brief, shimmering wake of blue Cherenkov radiation that dissolved into the starlight within seconds.

Down on Earth, far below the orbital plane, the morning newsfeeds droned on about the final closure of the Warren Industries liquidation hearings, the quiet transfer of corporate headquarters to public trusteeship, and the forgotten names of those who had fallen victim to a corrupt empire's greed.

In his cold, high-security cell on Titan-5, Arthur Warren stared endlessly at the gray metal ceiling, the silence of the frozen moon pressing in around him like a tomb of his own making. He had lost his wealth, his status, his daughters, and his name—surviving only as a cautionary footnote in economic history books, a textbook example of a titan who owned the world but forgot how to be human.

And miles away on the streets of the capital, Linda vanished into the anonymous gray shuffle of commuter crowds, her expensive clothes replaced by plain labor-transit fatigues, forever haunted by the terrifying memory of the sister she had tried to destroy, and the unbreakable rank that had risen from the ashes of their family's ruin.

Out in the deep black of the outer sectors, where the stars shone with fierce, unyielding brilliance, the Vanguard fleet moved silently through the dark.

Celeste stood at the bridge window of the flagship, her reflection crisp and clear against the glass. The scars on her arm were hidden beneath the dark fabric of her uniform sleeve, but they no longer felt like a brand of shame or a badge of trauma. They were simply part of the armor she wore—a reminder of where she had been, what she had overcome, and the unbreakable oath she had sworn to protect the future.

The glass had broken. The lies had burned away. And from the wreckage, an unyielding commander stood ready for whatever horizon came next.
