Chapter 6 - The TribunalThe courtroom of the United Defense Council was an amphitheater of cold gray stone and towering digital displays, packed to capacity with journalists, military officials, and surviving victims of the fringe-sector attacks.

In the center of the room stood the defendant’s dock. Arthur Warren sat behind a reinforced transparent barrier, his face gaunt, his eyes hollow. Beside him sat two corporate defense attorneys sweating profusely as they frantically flipped through encrypted data pads, fully aware that they were attempting to bail out a sinking titan with a teaspoon.

At the high tribunal bench sat a panel of five senior judges, flanked by Admiral Thomas Reed. And presiding over the evidentiary presentation, standing tall at the central podium with her digital projection interface glowing before her, was Commander Celeste Warren.

"The prosecution submits Exhibit B-99," Celeste’s voice rang clear and steady through the acoustic chambers, silencing the restless murmurs of the gallery.

A massive holographic projection materialized above the courtroom, displaying a complex, three-dimensional web of offshore bank accounts, encrypted communication logs, and shipping manifests.

"For the past seven years," Celeste continued, pointing to a highlighted node within the financial network, "Warren Industries systematically diverted classified military-grade stealth generators to unauthorized intermediaries operating in the outer fringe sectors. These shipments were deliberately mislabeled as agricultural machinery to bypass customs inspections mandated by the Defense Council."

"Objection!" shouted Arthur’s lead counsel, springing to his feet. "The prosecution is presenting circumstantial corporate restructuring data obtained through illegal military seizure without civilian warrant!"

Admiral Reed raised a single hand, his expression impassive. "Objection overruled. Under emergency martial statutes invoked in response to high treason and crimes against orbital security, military jurisdiction supersedes civilian trade courts. Proceed, Commander."

Celeste did not blink. She swiped her hand across her interface, pulling up a new set of documents—personal audio logs retrieved from the private servers in Arthur’s executive suite.

"Exhibit C-12," Celeste said softly. "A recorded conversation between the defendant, Arthur Warren, and the commander of the outer-rim insurgent syndicate, dated three weeks prior to the attack on orbital station Kepler-9."

The courtroom went completely dead silent. Every eye turned toward the defendant's dock as the audio file began to play through the high-fidelity speakers.

“...I don't care how you route the payload,” Arthur’s arrogant, unmistakable voice echoed off the stone walls. “Just ensure the delivery reaches the coordinates before the Defense Council inspects the outer shipyards. If the margin drops below forty percent, find another buyer. I didn't build this conglomerate to codit orbital refugees.”

The recording clicked off.

Arthur closed his eyes. The sound of his own voice, stripped of all corporate spin and broadcast before the entire solar system, was the final nail in his coffin. He could no longer claim ignorance. He could no longer hide behind legal loopholes or bribed politicians. The mask was gone, leaving only the naked, ugly truth of his greed.

"The prosecution rests, Your Honors," Celeste said, turning her gaze away from the projection and fixing it directly on the man trapped behind the glass. "The evidence of systematic treason and willful endangerment of civilian lives is absolute."
