The heavy steel security door didn't just open—it was blown entirely off its hinges by a precision tactical charge. Smoke and blinding flash-bang light poured into the penthouse as elite federal operatives swarmed through the opening.

"Federal Anti-Corruption Task Force! Nobody move!" Agent Vance's commanding voice echoed through the smoke, his badge held high.

Julian spun around in absolute shock, dropping his tablet onto the marble floor. "How... how did you bypass the acoustic firewall?"

Stepping out of the smoke, leaning heavily on a polished ebony cane, was Arthur Vance—Clara’s father. Behind him stood Marcus, still wearing prison grays.

Arthur stopped a few feet away, his eyes filled with sorrowful disappointment. "You inherited your mother's cruelty, Julian, but you inherited my paranoia. I knew you were watching from the shadows the day I faked my death."
