Chapter 9 - The Ghost in the ShadowsSix months had passed since the downfall of Vance Enterprises. To the world, Emily Vance was a heroic survivor who turned her tragedy into a global movement for justice. But deep down, Emily knew that true monsters rarely stay caged forever.

Her phone rang at 3:00 AM inside her heavily fortified mansion in Zurich. The caller ID was private, showing an encrypted satellite origin.

Emily picked up, her voice steady. "Speak."

A long, heavy breath echoed through the receiver. Then came a raspy, familiar chuckle that sent a chill straight down her spine.

"Did you really think a steel cage could hold me, Emily?"

It was Michael’s voice—or rather, the man who had stolen Michael’s face.

"The prison transport vehicle in maximum security," Michael whispered smoothly. "A tragic brake failure off the mountain pass. Two guards dead. My body was never recovered from the burning wreckage... sound familiar?"

Emily sat up in bed, her heart pounding, though her face remained an emotionless mask. "You're a fugitive with no money and no resources. You're a rat hiding in the dark."

"Oh, my dear Emily," he sneered. "You took my money, but you forgot one tiny detail. I didn't just steal Michael Vance's face. I stole his entire network. And right now, I'm standing outside your bedroom window."

The heavy bulletproof glass of her balcony window shattered as a flashbang grenade was hurled inside. The room erupted in blinding light and deafening noise.

Chapter Hook: As smoke filled the room, Emily rolled off the bed, drawing her concealed pistol from beneath her pillow. But when the smoke cleared, she wasn't alone. Marcus was tied to a chair in the corner of her room, a digital bomb strapped to his chest—and the timer was counting down from 60 seconds.
