Chapter 6 - The Ultimate Twist

“The Verdict of the Unborn”Silence.
An absolute, deafening silence fell over the entire city. The helicopters above stopped their engines but didn't fall; they hung suspended in the air like toys glued to the sky. The floating soldiers remained frozen mid-air. The wind stopped blowing through the shattered roof.
Hector Valverde looked at his watch. The second hand had stopped completely. Time itself had been paused at the boundary of the digital epoch.
“What... what did you do?” Hector whispered, his voice the only sound left in existence. Even Ricardo and Sarah were frozen in place, their expressions locked in time. Only Hector and the girl could move.
The girl walked up the steps of the judicial bench, standing right in front of Hector. Her digital form had faded, replaced by a warm, heartbreakingly human appearance.
“The countdown didn't upload the files to the world, Hector,” she said softly, her voice no longer robotic or layered. It sounded like a normal child. “The world you think you are saving doesn't exist anymore.”
Hector frowned, a knot of pure dread tightening in his stomach. “What are you talking about? Of course it exists. I can see it.”
“Look closer at your memories, Judge,” she said, touching his forehead one final time, not with force, but with a strange, tragic tenderness.
The courtroom around him dissolved. The marble turned to ash; the mahogany beams crumbled into dust.
Hector found himself standing in a vast, sterile white room. In the center of the room was a hyper-advanced medical capsule. Inside the capsule lay an old, frail man with gray hair, hooked up to hundreds of tubes and neural-links.
The face of the man in the capsule was his own.
“You died three hours ago, Hector,” the girl explained, standing beside him in the white void. “You suffered a catastrophic stroke in your office right before you were supposed to walk out and deliver the verdict for Ricardo La Fuente. Your wealthy friends didn't try to save your life—they immediately rushed to download your brain data to find the keys to your secret offshore accounts before your consciousness faded completely.”
Hector stared at his own dying body in absolute horror. “No... no, this is a lie! I am the Iron Judge! I am alive!”
“They plugged your dying brain into a quantum simulation matrix to extract your memories,” the girl continued, looking at him with pity. “I am not a government weapon, Hector. I am the security protocol of the neural network they used to hack your mind. I took the form of the child you failed ten years ago to see if there was a single shred of genuine justice left in your soul before the simulation terminates.”
Hector fell to his knees, his hands clutching the sterile white floor. His entire life, his power, his wealth, his grand courtroom—it was all just the final, frantic sparks of a dying brain being picked apart by the very vultures he had protected.
“Did I... did I pass the test?” Hector choked out, looking up at her, tears of ultimate despair spilling from his eyes. “Is there mercy for me?”
The girl looked at him, her form beginning to dissolve into beautiful, starlit pixels as the final functions of Hector's brain began to shut down permanently.
“You defined your entire life by the rule that mercy does not exist, Judge Valverde,” she whispered as the white void began to turn completely black. “I am simply honoring your final judgment.”
Outside the simulation, in the real world, the flatline monitor in the elite private hospital let out a long, continuous tone. The data screens turned red with a single message: DATA PURGED. ACCESS DENIED.

Ricardo La Fuente's lawyers stared at the screen in absolute panic as the offshore accounts vanished into the digital ether forever, leaving the empire built on blood to collapse into nothingness.
The Iron Judge was gone. And true justice had finally been served.
