CHAPTER 6 – The Dead Man's Ring

The warehouse fell into complete silence.
Every FBI agent instinctively raised their weapons.
Ethan couldn't breathe.
His eyes were locked on the silver ring shining on the masked stranger's hand.
"No..." Ethan whispered.
"That's impossible."
His father had worn that ring every single day.
It had been buried with him.
Or so everyone believed.
The masked man chuckled.
"You recognize it, don't you?"
Grace staggered backward, tears filling her eyes.
"I buried that ring myself..."
The stranger slowly removed his mask.
Gasps echoed through the warehouse.
It wasn't Ethan's father.
It was Nathan Carter...
His father's identical twin brother.
A brother Ethan had never known existed.
The FBI database had no record of him.
No birth certificate.
No passport.
No fingerprints.
For twenty years, Nathan had lived like a ghost.
"My brother was always the honest one," Nathan said coldly.
"He believed justice could change the world."
He laughed bitterly.
"I learned something much more valuable..."
"Power changes justice."
The giant screens suddenly displayed hundreds of surveillance feeds.
Banks.
Government buildings.
Airports.
Police headquarters.
Nathan had been watching everyone.
For years.
"I built this organization from nothing," he continued.
"The businessman you arrested?"
"He was just an employee."
The agents slowly realized the horrifying truth.
Every arrest...
Every investigation...
Every victory...
Had been carefully manipulated by Nathan himself.
He had sacrificed his own people to protect the real empire.
Then Nathan looked directly at Ethan.
"I never wanted to hurt you."
"You are family."
He pressed a button on a remote.
Another screen lit up.
A live video appeared.
Ethan's mother.
She was tied to a chair inside a dark room.
A digital countdown flashed beside her.
09:59... 09:58... 09:57...
Grace screamed.
"No!"
Nathan smiled.
"You have ten minutes."
"Choose wisely."
"You can save your mother..."
"...or expose my empire forever."
The warehouse erupted into panic.
Agents rushed to trace the signal.
Hackers tried to locate the video.
Nothing.
Nathan had hidden every trace.
Then Ethan noticed something no one else had seen.
Behind his mother's chair...
Hanging on the wall...
Was an old family photograph.
One that had disappeared from their house years before his father died.
Ethan suddenly realized something terrifying.
His mother wasn't being held in some secret prison.
She was inside a place his father had trusted more than anywhere else.
A place Ethan knew by heart.
Without saying a word, he turned and sprinted toward the exit.
The FBI shouted after him.
But Ethan didn't stop.
May you like
Because for the first time...
He knew exactly where the final battle was about to begin.
