CHAPTER 2 – The DNA Report That Destroyed Everything
The old man stepped into the aisle.
The guests turned toward him, confused.
Ethan saw him and immediately whispered, “No…”
The man was Charles Whitmore — Ethan’s biggest investor, the one person who could destroy his entire empire with one phone call.
Charles lifted the envelope.
“Before this wedding continues,” he said coldly, “everyone deserves the truth.”
The bride’s father stood up. “What truth?”
Charles opened the envelope and pulled out the report.
“This child is not Ethan Parker’s daughter.”
The room exploded.
The little girl’s mother gasped, shaking her head. “That’s impossible.”
But Charles continued.
“Six years ago, Ethan paid this woman to pretend the child was his.”
The bride turned slowly toward Ethan.
“Why?”
Ethan’s hands trembled.
Then Charles revealed the real reason.
“Because Ethan needed a fake scandal. He wanted his former fiancée to leave him… so he could marry into a richer family.”
The bride staggered backward.
Ethan whispered, “I did it for us.”
But the bride’s eyes filled with disgust.
“For us? You used a child.”
Then the little girl began crying.
“Mommy… he isn’t my daddy?”
No one moved.
That tiny question broke the entire room.
Suddenly, the mother collapsed to her knees.
“I’m sorry,” she sobbed. “He promised me money for her surgery. I had no choice.”
Ethan shouted, “Enough!”
But Charles smiled bitterly.
“No, Ethan. Now comes the worst part.”
He pulled out one final document.
“The little girl’s real father… is already in this room.”
Everyone froze.
Charles turned toward the bride’s father.
The man’s face went pale.
The bride whispered, “Dad?”
Charles nodded.
“Six years ago, he had an affair… and abandoned them both.”
The bride screamed.
The wedding ended without vows, without music, without applause.
Ethan lost his bride.
The bride lost her family.
And the little girl finally learned the truth.
But the biggest shock came three days later…
Charles adopted the little girl and her mother into his protection.
And before leaving the ruined mansion, he told Ethan one final sentence:
“You used an innocent child to climb higher… so I’ll make sure you fall lower than anyone.”
By morning, Ethan’s company was gone.
