CHAPTER 4 — The Billionaire Who Became a Target

Marcus didn't hesitate.
He locked the apartment door.
"Stay away from the windows," he ordered.
The black SUVs outside had already blocked both ends of the street.
Men in dark suits stepped out one by one.
Not gangsters.
Professionals.
Disciplined.
Organized.
Their movements reminded Marcus of private security teams hired by multinational corporations.
Only these men weren't protecting anyone.
They were hunting.
Marcus immediately called his head of security.
"Send everyone."
"Sir?"
"Armed."
"And don't notify the board."
The line went silent.
"Understood."
Within minutes, tires screamed outside.
Reed Global security vehicles rushed into the narrow street.
The two groups faced each other.
Nobody fired.
Not yet.
Then Marcus noticed something strange.
The mysterious men weren't watching him.
Every pair of eyes remained fixed on Lily.
As if she were the real target.
One of the strangers stepped forward and calmly spoke.
"We don't want Mr. Reed."
"We only need Lily Parker."
Marcus stood in front of her.
"You'll go through me first."
The man smiled.
"You still don't understand."
"Lily isn't hiding from us."
"She's been protecting you."
Before Marcus could respond...
Gunshots shattered the silence.
Glass exploded across the apartment.
Everyone dropped to the floor.
May you like
Someone had started the war.
But neither side knew who fired first.
