CHAPTER 8 — The Woman Who Controlled Everything

The mysterious woman walked straight through the snow.

None of Victor's men dared raise a weapon.

Marcus had never seen her before.

Yet everyone else seemed terrified.

She stopped only a few feet from Victor.

"I warned you twenty years ago."

Victor lowered his eyes.

"You should have stayed dead."

She smiled coldly.

"So should your lies."

Turning toward Marcus, she spoke gently.

"My name is Evelyn Grant."

"I founded Reed Global with your father."

Marcus froze.

"What?"

"Your father owned fifty-one percent."

"I owned forty-nine."

"When Daniel died..."

"The board forged documents."

"They stole my shares."

"They made Victor CEO in everything except title."

Marcus felt the ground disappear beneath him.

Everything he had built...

Every success...

Every decision...

Had been manipulated from the shadows.

Evelyn held up a thick folder.

"These are the original ownership papers."

"The board buried them."

"But I never stopped collecting evidence."

Victor suddenly laughed.

"You still think paperwork matters?"

He snapped his fingers.

Several armed men aimed directly at Evelyn.

Then...

Something unexpected happened.

More than half of Victor's own guards lowered their weapons.

One stepped forward.

Another followed.

Then another.

Their leader removed his earpiece.

"We don't work for you anymore."

"We work for the truth."

Victor's face turned ghost white.

For the first time in twenty years...

He stood completely alone.

But he still had one final card to play.

He slowly pulled a remote control from his pocket.

May you like

"If I lose..."

"Everyone dies."
