Chapter 6 - The Crown of Thorns

🔥 THE FINAL REVENGE: LORENZO MAKES THEM PAY, BUT THE ULTIMATE TWIST WILL LEAVE YOU BREATHLESS! 🔥The revelation hung in the air like a heavy fog.

Elena looked at Lorenzo, her eyes wide with a mixture of horror and realization. The warmth she had felt from Isabella, the instant connection, the way the older woman had held her hand and whispered that she looked "just like her"... it wasn't just the kindness of a dying woman. It was a mother recognizing her lost child.

And Lorenzo looked at Elena. The woman he had dragged from a graveyard, the woman he had sworn to protect, the woman who had brought him the truth. She wasn't just a witness. She was his blood.

"She wanted to protect you," Marcello sneered from the floor, blood pooling around his tuxedo. "She knew that if the syndicate found out she had a illegitimate civilian daughter who was the sole heir to the Moretti legitimate billions, the capos would have slaughtered you. So I did what had to be done. I killed her before she could sign the final transfer. And I was going to find you next, Elena."

Lorenzo’s eyes flared with a primal, absolute rage.

"You will never touch her," Lorenzo said.

He didn't hesitate. He pulled the trigger.

BANG.

Marcello Moretti slumped to the floor, lifeless. The traitor was dead.

The capos in the ballroom immediately bowed their heads in submission to Lorenzo, the undisputed Don of Chicago. No one dared to speak. No one dared to move.

"Clean this up," Lorenzo commanded Leo, his voice calm, cold, and commanding. He turned to Elena, wrapping his arm around her shoulders. "We’re leaving."

Six Months LaterThe rain had stopped. A bright, warm spring sun shone over the Moretti family plot. The black granite tomb of Isabella Moretti was surrounded by fresh, blooming white roses.

Elena stood in front of the grave, wearing a beautiful black designer coat. She looked healthy, strong, and no longer wore a stained waitress uniform. She had completed her nursing degree, funded by her inheritance, and now ran a pediatric clinic in downtown Chicago, fully protected by the Moretti family.

A shadow fell over her. Lorenzo walked up beside her, placing a hand on her shoulder.

"You look peaceful," he said.

"I am," Elena smiled, looking up at her brother. "I finally know who I am, Lorenzo. And I have a family."

Lorenzo smiled—a rare, genuine smile that he only reserved for her. "You always did. We just had to find you."

As they turned to walk back to the waiting limousine, Elena’s phone buzzed in her pocket. She pulled it out and looked at the screen. It was an anonymous text message from an untraceable number.

Elena’s smile faded. Her blood ran cold.

The message read:

Dear Elena, your brother thinks he killed the mastermind. But Marcello was just a puppet. The real owner of your trust is still watching. See you soon, sister.

Elena slowly looked up at Lorenzo, who was walking ahead of her, opening the car door. She slipped the phone back into her pocket, her heart hammering in her chest.

The war wasn't over. It was only just beginning.
